COMFEST #30, by Dreama

We often stop by and visit our friend, Alan Jones, international potter.  He has been working the Comfest for 25 years.  We sit under his tent; next to Roger the tie-dye guy and watch the people flow past us, often stopping to gaze at his beautiful pottery and handcrafted wooden shelves.  Jazz music plays in the tent across from us and we never fail to stop by the Strawberry Fields tent to get a strawberry, banana, and orange juice drink.  It is absolutely the best.

I never stop at one particular tent to listen to a band, as I walk along the music follows me wherever I go.  Some of the bands I heard this year are Kim Pensyl (bop trumpet), Ekoostik Hookah (“an improvisational style of psychedelic rock n roll, blues, funk, jazz and bluegrass”), Hoo Doo Soul Band (funky r & b), The Randy’s (dynamic rockabilly) and Johnny Rebel (rockabilly revue) to name a few.  I can never resist stopping by the Live Arts stage to see talented performances.  Last year I saw belly dancers, this year I saw Thoissane West African Dance.

When we arrived at Comfest the sound of drums led us to these energetic dancers.  Their colorful garments were wonderful to watch as they soared into the air with every step.  If you ever get a chance to see this preformance you will not regret it.
