So, the time has come to announce the new Broadway Across America 2008-2009 series, in Columbus, Ohio. The season has been named... “The Stellar 20th Anniversary Season.”  From a play about American history to a musical about making it on Broadway there is a show for everyone, from kids to adults, who like the performing arts.

The Season will kick off with Frost/Nixon.  This show will feature actor Stacey Keach and will run from October 14th - October 19th, 2008. The show is about David Frost who was a famous British talk show host, with a bad boy reputation, and how he got some interesting information out of Richard Nixon regarding the scandals around his presidency.

The next show to line up on the season is one for families everywhere because we have all come to know and love the music. So gel back your hair and come out for a night to enjoy Grease.  The show will run December 16th - December 21st, 2008. Get ready to have a great time going to see the tour that was inspired by the show that picked the new Danny and Sandy on national television. (Note: The actors who won the show are not appearing in the tour, they are still on their Broadway roles).

Finally we move on to a show Columbus has been waiting to see for awhile, SPRING AWAKENING. This will run February 3rd - 8th, 2009.  With that being said I must note that this show took over the Tony's when it hit Broadway to win big! Some people have called this show the new “RENT.” I personally don't agree with this, but the story and music from the show is brilliant. The show is based on a book that was banned and makes an interesting case when we talk about the pains of growing up and getting to know the words of our own bodies.  I would not recommend this show for young kids, but teenagers are bound to love it. This show would make a strong and excellent talking point when trying to deal with some difficult topics with your kids.  It also comes right around Valentine's day, so make it a night out for you and that special someone.
