My cup was empty and they were cleaning the tables. “I should probably get back to The Voyeur,” I said. “I have made promises.” “It’s business, Joel,” Mr. Felix said, “she’ll understand.” I shook my head. “It’s more than that,” I said. “I think it’s home.” Mr. Felix nodded. “I understand,” he said. “But my offer will always be open.” I nodded. “Thank you,” I said. “Meanwhile,” Mr. Felix said, “you may take my picture. It will be good for the circus. Only, you don’t have to hide behind a bush this time.” I smiled and looked out the window to check the lighting. It was snowing.
