After eleven years, I will sit down again in a rare interview and Dreama will divulge the true story behind The Voyeur of Fashion, Art & Politics.

Joel Voyeur:  How are you darling?

Dreama Cleaver:  I’m well, Joel, how are you?

Magnificent.  So tell me, why haven’t you ever been interviewed before?

I don’t know.  Why haven’t I?

This isn’t going to turn into ‘take cheap shots at Joel’ is it?

Not at all. ;-)  Columbus Alive interviewed me once for Via Colori but my bit was cut.  That’s the story of my life.

Well, before we get into all the Voyeur history, I want to ask a few frequent questions about the magazine.  Like, why doesn’t it get published as often as you promised?

What did I promise?

Six times a year.  On average it’s about once a year…

Oh, well, we all have lives don’t we?

Not me.  I live a half life.

When I started the mag there were lots of people around who were interested in contributing but generally other things take precedence over free labor, like making money.  If it hadn’t been for Jim and VSgal’s dedication I wouldn’t have been able to continue for this long.

That brings me to my next question…does the Voyeur bring you anything financially?

You know it doesn’t.  I’m generally in negative numbers.  With attending events, spending my free time and keeping you looking dapper and shiny I pretty much come out broke and behind in everything else.  But it’s the creative satisfaction that matters, isn’t it?

Sure, until you die hungry and alone.

I won’t let that happen to you, Joel.

I wasn’t talking about me.

Smartass.  Seriously, on an artistic level having the magazine is fantastic.  I have not only a desire to become a better photographer but a reason to be.  As well as web design.  I switched my major from English to Art & Technology because of it.  It’s an all around good time.  I always get good feedback on it so I know I’m going in the right direction.  Belonging to a creative group of people is also very satisfying.  And I love the fact that I get to control what goes in it.

            Until now.

Keep dreaming, Joel, it’s good for you...
