Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness are all basic rights of the human being.  Technological advances are supposed to allow for the increased time for our personal pursuits.  In the future, I have envisioned a new tool that will help add to our lives the things we fight most for but seem to forget in the hectic everyday:  freedom, safety, and happiness.

This manifests itself in a machine, the Uplift 3000, that is meant to be used as a transportation vehicle by the average person in the future.  I have mixed helicopter propellers, an umbrella, a hang glider, and a carnival ride chair.  The helicopter propellers and hang glider mechanics provide function for the user of this machine to glide/fly to their destination, if any.  The person is off the earth, floating, and metaphorically not tied down by things in life.  The umbrella is meant to shield the user from those cloudy days of rain and snow, while also allowing a feeling of a safety net via parachute-like usage while in flight.  To put the user at ease, there is a chair that is balanced at the fulcrum of the machine to evenly support the weight of that person.  The chair is specifically a carnival ride chair, from the ride that you sit on and it spins you happily in a circle, making you nearly perpendicular to the ground.  Carnivals usually illicit near-childlike excitement and joy at the simplest things, and is meant to convey that feeling to the user.

These feelings and experiences from using the Uplift 3000 in combination is meant to provide an all-encompassing richness to the average everyday life, bringing us one step closer to complete contentment.
