Zazen Photo:  So, tell us Raqui, how did you first get into body painting as an art?

Raqui:  I've been drawing all my life basically got into airbrushing 3 years ago, when I worked at Six Flags Atlanta.  I also attend the Art Institute for photography.  I like body artwork a great deal.  Although, it’s new to me, because I usually handle portraits, murals, and things like that.  If people like my work at the end of the day I am happy.

ZP:  What is your preferred method of body painting, and why?

Raqui: I prefer to use airbrush; it’s faster to spread and easy to clean up.

ZP:  What/Who inspires your body painting art?  Or Influences your subject matter?

Raqui: I don’t have a specific person in mind that inspires me I just do my own thing. Ideas come to me by look at different artwork or pictures then my creative side kicks in.

Body Painter, Raqui Washington
