When listening to the band play, you feel each cord; you feel each verse with an intensity and passion that ALL bands should have. The one particular song that hit me was called “King”, which was written for a member of this band of rock brothers named George Ulrich. George, who played bass, passed away all of a sudden in May of 2009. The loss of a rock brother can cripple a band; however, Slaves of Shiva emerged with new found passion for life and fun. Lead Vocalist Mike “Dr. Awesome” Neider says about the passing of George Ulrich: “The only horrible thing to happen was when George passed. I still miss that guy! Super kick ass bass player! Cool as hell. Loved to drink and fit the philosophy well. Before every show, to honor George and the band philosophy we do a shot of Crown which was George's favorite drink. We used to call him King George because of it.”
