Currently, the ISAW Foundation is
working towards the acquisition of a viticultural training center and
wine estate in the Western Cape of South Africa. The vision for the
ISAW Institute is a functioning winery that enables workers to learn and
participate in the entire process of managing and operating a winery,
from farming to global export. Workers will experience a vertically
integrated education that will provide them with specialized skills to
increase their earning potential and add value to prospective
employers. For some, it may even be a stimulus for entrepreneurship or
cooperative ventures. The Institute will benefit from selling the wine
produced during this educational process to message and fundraise on
behalf of the Foundation. |
These are the 2 South African Wineries which support ISAW: 1) M’hudi – The M’hudi vineyard lies in a valley with deep table Mountain sandstone soils over clay. The valley floor is very hot in summer, but is regularly cooled by morning mists and vigorous doses of the Cape Doctor (renowned Cape Town South-Easterly wind) in the afternoons. “M’hudi” is
derived from the Setswana word, “mohudi” meaning “harvester”. It is
also the same name given to the heroine of a great African story. In
the story M’hudi flees her war ravaged village in search of a new
beginning. Along the way, she finds friends and fosters life-long
relationships. |
M'hudi Sauvignon
Blanc M’hudi’s cool climate Sauvignon Blanc is typically grassy with a fresh and lively hint of melon and passion fruit. The rich tropical fruit, pineapple and honey aromas contribute to a well rounded, balanced finish. This wine will complement salads, poultry, or fish with light sauces. It can also be enjoyed on its own, as it has a clean, crisp, and fresh aroma. |

Served chilled at
58-60 degrees F. The wine will keep up to 6 months after purchase.
Once open keep in the refrigerator and finish within 2 days. |
M'hudi Pinotage The M'hudi Pinotage is a medium bodied wine with a rich purple color, a youthful edge, subtle oak spice, plums, and vanilla on the nose with silky tannins on the palate. (VSGal says it has a smoky aroma and flavor that she adores!) The wine is light and easy to enjoy on its own or with lamb, steak and pot roast, roasted vegetables, or southern barbeque. To enjoy, serve slightly chilled at 58-60 degrees F. |
