Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the baddest ass chick of them all?
That’s
what everyone was asking on August 26, 2011. Who would become the Queen of
Hell? The new Wicked Princess or an official Hellion? Spawned by photographer
Jeremy Allen, it was an idea that took off quickly. Hell On Heels: Battle on
the Runway was a rock n’ roll style pageant that raised money for the Columbus
Youth Guild.
Jeremy Allen said, “I was at the Laundromat one night, and they had
America's Next Top Model on TV. Seeing how serious everyone
was, I thought it would be kind of fun to do an alternative beauty
contest. One where the atmosphere was much more relaxed, and giving
away a couple serious prizes with some ridiculous ones thrown in;
like a half burnt candle, Pop-Tarts, and an autograph from Kevin
Kurgis (our phone calls to get his autograph were not returned). I
approached Stacia Gorsuch, Mike Neider (Mad Shiva Entertainment /
Slaves of Shiva / Saturday Night Pillow Fights), and Jeremy Borden
(Psychosomatic Films) with the idea, and it started to grow from
there. Mike got the venue, got another band interested in playing
the event, and has been promoting the hell out of it. Stacia came up
with the name, designed sashes and the winner's crown, and has been
coordinating the event.”
Eyes Stained Black and Slaves of
Shiva provided some hard rock for this rock hard pageant. |
