Just about everyone would like to go back in time.  “If only I had done that differently,” we say, “if only.”  But what if you could?  What if for 1 hour and 9 minutes you could go back to your childhood?  Where would you go?  What would you change?

Darren takes us on an autobiographical journey through time but it is not long before it becomes our own.  We run with him when the kids chase him down the street in
'How To Build A Time Machine'…but don’t you remember when they chased you?  What about an even darker time when you watched in wonder as violence fell down in front of you?  Darren brilliantly recounts in the song 'Neverland' how imagination is sometimes a child's only defense against an otherwise powerless position.

Darren's use of personal experience creates a place for us to run to no matter how happy or embarrassing or scary it may be.  There is a connection with his audience that few singers have the talent to control or the willingness to share.

With lyrics like, 'You got Jesus with a paler skin/ you had Lennon but you wasted him,'  from
'The Great Big Disconnect' and my new favorite one- liner, "Paris Hilton and who gives a fuck?  I don't," Darren mixes humor and pop culture to create a mood anyone can relate to.
