Now certainly Warhol is not the only commentator on the world of pop culture.  Neither is it the only theme ever expressed in his work.  However, I believe it has been the greatest theme of his work, and he has certainly been the most heard commentator on pop culture.  It is for the insights of his work that he got noticed.  And it is due to his work that he became deeply involved in the darker circle of celebrity that moved in to replace the pop world of glamour Hollywood.  Through his commentary on pop culture, he became pop culture.  And that is why Andy Warhol has achieved so much notoriety; he and his concepts are deeply entwined with the very fabric of modern pop culture with which we interact every day.
