What goes through your mind when you hear the audience react (applause, cheering, hoots) to one of the designs?

I’m always thrilled!

Where/how do find your models?

That is up to each designer – usually friends, sisters, etc.

How does one enter their artwork in the silent auction?

Ask us.  We accepted everything this year except a Japanese sword.

You designed the last dress of the show and several in the past, do you have any comments about this?

Yes, I designed the last dress (and 3 others in this year’s show) as a challenge to myself.  If I teach apparel design, then I’d better be good at it!  I wanted this year’s final dress to show the infinite power that each of us holds – as women, as survivors or breast cancer or heart disease, as a friend or loved one who helps others.  So my design was to be a “queen of the world” design, complete with flowing cape, scepter, and Swarovski crystals.  My daughter, Jessica, was my model.  Another of my designs this year was a watermelon pink untra-suede pantsuit, designed in memory of my Mother who died 9 years ago, and who the audience saw on a slide in her watermelon colored suit from the 1940s.
