With an exception of the founders, Groovie Mann and Buzz McCoy, the band changes members as often as I change my tie. Currently joining them is Charles Levi on bass and singer Pepper Somerset, who along with a strong voice has a strong stage presence. Without the amazing voices of their femme fatales TKK would not have their unique sound. It’s a give and take situation; you know what I mean baby? I don’t remember how they got onto the red lit stage. They just seemed to appear in front of me against the black back drop of primitive devil heads. There was a hint of maple scented fog in the air. Groovie Mann, dressed in black sunglasses, leather pants and a big silver chain of charms around his neck pulled the microphone close to his lips. “Tonight we murder,” he sang.
There was nowhere to go, nowhere to move. I was bound in place as
the crowd shoved in hard behind me. The bass pounded through my body. Is this
what masochism is like? It was good.
