How is your
business green?
We all know that
Mikamy Meadows is
green. We know this because the owners offer open house tours of the farm
and are very generous in sharing their techniques for producing wonderful
products. But what about the corporate competition? How are they
green? Do you research all the goods you buy with a recycled stamp on the
package and see how they define “recycled?” I’ve always wondered just what
does “Final Product Not Tested on Animals” really mean? Recently, a very
large company began advertising “How to Make Your Business Green” and went so
far as to put it on their corporate home page. Not long after they started
a re-brand campaign and produced thousands of paper flyers, posters, and brand
packets that explained their brand and then distributed them to all the
employees. Promotional items generally go from the desk to the garbage can
in a matter of minutes. I was horrified to think of all the energy, paper,
ink, and pollution used for this campaign when the base of their company is
built on the use of email. They could have easily sent the same
information out electronically with little paper waste.
